By placing a booking and paying to reserve a garment, you are agreeing to the following Terms & Conditions. Please consider this before renting.

1. Bookings

1.1 Dates are reserved after full payment only.


2. Refund Policy

2.1 For any reason (including change of mind), a store credit can be offered up until 7 days prior to your event. Within 7 days of your event, the hire price is non-refundable. The store credit is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.


3. Bonds

3.1 A bond is required for all garments. The cost of the bond varies depending on the garment.
3.2 The bond is returned within 2–3 business days following the garment being returned and inspected to ensure it is in original condition.
3.3 The bond will not be returned if any alterations or adjustments have been made to the dress without prior consent from Are Kae Rentals.
3.4 In the case where further dry cleaning, repairs or alterations are required, the bond may be temporarily held and the cost of this may be deducted from the bond.


4. Dry Cleaning

4.1 The cost of cleaning varies depending on the garment and is included in the hire price.
4.2 Are Kae Rentals will clean the garment — please do not attempt to clean the garment yourself in any way.
4.3 Following dry cleaning, all hires are carefully folded, wrapped, and packed for collection in a gift bag, or in a box for postage. Despite our best efforts to wrap items loosely, and depending on the fabric, fold lines can occur. Customers should be prepared to use a portable steamer if required, or to iron the fabric (only with another piece of fabric in between to avoid direct contact with the garment). If these methods aren't available to you and you would prefer a garment bag, please do let us know prior to your pickup.


5. Postage

5.1 In the event there are delays by Australia Post and the garment does not arrive in time for your event, a full refund will be issued inclusive of postage costs.
5.2 In the event a hired garment arrives via postage and does not fit or meet the customer’s needs for their event, a store credit may be offered valid for 12 months from the date of delivery. The garment must be returned within 24 hours of delivery and must be handed over the counter at the post office to be eligible for a store credit.


6. Store Credits

6.1 Store credits are valid for 12 months from the date of issue. They must be used within this timeframe, and the rental date for the garment must fall within this period.
6.2 Store credits are non-transferable and can only be used by the customer who made the initial booking.
6.3 One-time re-activation for unsuitable fit: If you use a store credit to book a garment you have not previously tried on and the fit is unsuitable, we may re-activate the original credit once only, provided the garment is returned unworn, in original condition and on time. The re-activated credit retains the original value and expiry. No additional or new credit will be issued. Postage/return shipping is excluded from credits.


7. Try-Ons

7.1 Booking a try-on does not guarantee that the dress is reserved for your event date (for both postage and in-person try-ons). Dates are reserved after full payment only.
7.2 Secondary try-ons may be available for a fee.
7.3 Try-ons may not be available after the garment has been reserved and paid for by another customer. If you are concerned about sizing, we recommend trying on the garment before deciding to book and pay.
7.4 If local customers opt not to try on their garment prior to payment, and upon pickup discover that it does not fit, a store credit may be offered if it is returned the same day (valid for 12 months).
7.5 When trying on dresses with Are Kae Rentals that are also stocked by other companies, we may have made adjustments or alterations to perfect the fit of the garment. If these adjustments have not been made by another company you have tried it on with, it may fit differently. Please make use of our try-on service or contact us for any questions about sizing or fit.


8. Rental Period

8.1 Postage hires: The garment must be posted back by handing it over the counter at a post office (not in a street posting box) the next business day following your event by 4pm. Failure to meet these conditions may result in late fees at Are Kae Rentals’ discretion.
8.2 Pickup and drop-off hires: The garment must be returned on or before the end date confirmed in your booking, in line with our return instructions. Failure to do so may result in late fees at Are Kae Rentals’ discretion.
8.3 Return postage must be arranged at the time of booking. We cannot accommodate requests to return the dress via postage after your booking is made. Posting the dress back without our prior consent may result in forfeiture of your bond and/or additional fees.
8.4 Return instructions differ depending on whether your booking is a studio pickup or a postage hire. Customers are responsible for following the return instructions provided via email and on our Returns Guide page.
8.5 We unfortunately do not offer international hires or allow garments to be taken overseas.


9. Damages

9.1 If an item is damaged beyond repair, the full RRP of the item may be charged.
9.2 Customers acknowledge that they will be wearing second-hand items which have been rented by other customers. Refunds or discounts will not be issued for minor wear that could reasonably be expected of a rental garment.


10. Postage Try-Ons

10.1 Due to high demand for our rental services, we give priority to paid dress rentals over postage try-ons. If your postage try-on needs to be rescheduled or, in certain cases, cancelled because of a rental booking, we will inform you as soon as possible.
10.2 Booking a postage try-on does not reserve a garment for your event date. Availability is only secured after full payment and booking through our website.
10.3 The garment must be returned by handing it over the counter within 24 hours of delivery and must not be placed in any street posting box. Failure to meet these conditions may result in late fees at Are Kae Rentals’ discretion.


11. Garment Alterations & Product Descriptions

11.1 Some garments in our collection may have been altered since they were first added, including but not limited to adjustments such as hem length. Any known alterations will be noted in the product description. It is the customer's responsibility to review the current product description at the time of booking, as this reflects the most accurate and up to date information about the garment. Previous try-on experiences or earlier website imagery may not reflect the garment's current specifications. 

11.2 By completing a booking, the customer confirms they have reviewed the current product description. Refunds will not be issued on the basis of alterations or updates that are disclosed in the product description at the time of booking.
